In the morning we set off direction Lake Bunyonyi in the very south of Uganda. It’s a very nice lake at about 2000 m above sea level which contains several islands. Because of that altitude it’s nice and cool there, and somehow reminded me a bit of Swiss lakes. When we arrived at the lake, we parked the car and boarded a small boat that took us to the lodge on one of the islands. We soon arrived at an island that was covered with trees. It was a peaceful place with cool and fresh air. The lodge was also beautiful and we were there alone. After a round of playing an African game similar to Kahala or Kalaha, during which Nelson demonstrated his mad forward thinking/calculating skills we had lunch and ordered crayfish from the lake. Nelson first didn’t want to try as he finds they looked a bit disgusting but after I had told him a secret story he still also ordered crayfish. It was very nice but Nelson couldn’t eat it. He actually liked the taste but couldn’t stand the looks. After we had finished lunch, the waiter came to take the plates, all empty except for Nelsons, he would tell to the waiter to keep it for supper. Then later at supper he told him to keep it for breakfast and at breakfast to put it in a doggy bag… which was a joke… but it was funny anyway.
After some resting time we took off again for a boat trip to see some of the islands on the lake. One of the islands was named Virgin Islands. It’s a tiny island with one big tree. They say that in the early days young ladies who unintentionally got pregnant had been brought there as a punishment.
We visited one of the islands where a pretty new lodge was about to be opened. They even had brought a few animals like Waterbucks or zebras to the island to make it more attractive for tourists.
Later we got back home and had a nice supper before we went to bed.
