In the morning we left the island after breakfast and shipped back to the marina to continue our journey by car. On the way we passed a nice market alongside the road, so we stopped to buy a few very nice bananas.
As we advanced we approached a caravan of military trucks transporting soldiers to a military base nearby. One of the soldiers lost his cap but the truck soon disappeared. We then decided to return that cap to the soldier, so we followed the transporter. As we approached we drove on the side trying to hand the cap over but it wouldn’t work because of the bad road. One could tell which of the soldiers had lost his cap, not because that guy didn’t wear any but because of the big smile he put on his face when he realised that we were trying to return his lost cap. As it didn’t work we lifted up the top roof and as I grinningly stood in the car, chasing the truck I took a picture of the guys. We then tried again to drive alongside to be able to hand over the cap but it wouldn’t work. Then the truck stopped. I was busy throwing the cap towards the soldiers when one of the superiors got off the truck with a very angry face heading towards me shouting something. I was still grinning but then realised that this guy seemed to be pissed. He asked why I had taken a picture of the truck. I just told him that we wanted to return the cap and also the soldiers on the truck also tried shouted at him trying to explain and calm him down. Fortunately he turned around and went back to the truck. Then he turned around again and – as he seemed to have understood what had happened – thanked me for returning the cap and disappeared in the truck.
We continued our journey and soon arrived at the marvellous Rwakobo Rock Lodge near Lake Mburo. What a pretty lodge built on a rock! After lunch we went on a game drive where we saw plenty of animals. In this park one could spot Zebras, Buffalos, Topis, Uganda Kob, Warthogs, different kinds of monkeys, eagles, vultures and oder birds. We went back as at dusk and enjoyed a very nice supper and the last evening in a lodge as we would spend the next two days travelling home. What a nice place to be…
