chimps trekking at Budongo forest, game drive

After a nicely cool night in the middle of the Budongo forest with an amazing soundscape we enjoyed a very nice breakfast before we met our guide who would go for a chimps trekking in the woods. Only a few minutes after we took off we found ourselves once again in the jungle. It was quite silent which is a bad sign for a chimps trekking as a group of chimps usually makes a lot of noise. I didn’t mind very much as I enjoyed the hike through the forest. After a while our guide spotted a single chimp on top of a tree. He was surrounded with fruits that he seemed to enjoy very much. Unfortunately this meant that he didn’t have to leave the tree for the next couple of hours. We could still take some pictures of the guy. Later the guide tried again to find the chimp group but he did not succeed, so we returned to the lodge. On our way we saw many monkeys, centipedes, mushrooms, butterflies, spiders and of course different kinds of trees. I enjoyed the hike very much.

After lunch we went on a game drive on our way to our next lodge. We spotted many elephants, kobs, warthogs, giraffes, hartebeests, birds and monkeys. Time flies when one’s on Safari, especially when spotting so many animals. We soon arrived at Pakuba Lodge where we had supper after taking a shower. I was a bit tired and went to bed early where I listened to the cozy sound of a generator for an hour and the interesting discussions of the neighbours for another two before I fell asleep. I was a bit spoiled from the last Safari which took place during low season. So the lodges were mostly empty but this time we travelled during high season. Anyways, it was a great day and felt relaxed anyway.
