A couple of things needed to be fixed at the pig houses. On one we had to extend a veranda for the water would not go in during the rain season. Then we had to seal the bamboo walls with transparent tarpaulin so the rain and wind would be blocked a bit. For some reason the pigs and also the piglets love plastic stuff. They would keep trying to get pieces of plastic while we were busy attaching them to the walls. When we had finished our job we realised that the piglets already bit some holes in the freshly mounted tarpaulin. Claudia then attached some wired mesh to hinder them from doing that. In the meantime the building workers constructed another veranda and a round platform that fits a drum to collect more rain water at the other pig house. For some reason Simon, the master builder seemed to be a bit angry… We soon realized that one could not close the door to enter the pig house any more for the new veranda was simply built too large… Simon would later move the door a bit so it would work again…
Fixing the pig house – Check!
building a veranda with local bricks
filling up the veranda with cement
Charles and I then attached some plastic tarpaulin to protect the pigs from the rain and wind
but then the piglets started to eating the tarpaulin so we had to attach some wire netting…
Meanwhile the building workers had to build another veranda and a round platform for
another water drum
but, what’s that? The door can’t be closed anymore…
They built the veranda just a bit too long… so they’ll have to shift the door a bit later on…
